REVIEW: Alien Opponent Uncut DVD

To my surprise Alien Opponent turned out to be a great movie! Alien Opponent doesn’t take it self to serious with over the top action, extreme deaths, and with plenty of funny moments as well.

A quick summary of the story with out giving away any spoilers an alien space craft crash lands in a junk yard and is quickly given a bounty of $100,000 for anyone that can kill him and retrieve something from him which I will not reveal. Once the word gets out about the bounty all kinds of individuals show up to the junk yard in hopes of cashing in by killing him but little do they know its not going to be an easy job. All of the carnage takes place in about a day and a half as the hunters advance on the barn where the Alien is staying the obstacles he has laid out get harder and harder. The cast of characters includes from all kinds of backgrounds such as special forces, cops, bikers, rednecks, martial artists, football players, baseball players, psychos, a kick ass priest which is played by WWF Wrestling Legend Rowdy Roddy Piper, and even one of the characters strongly resembles a cheap knock off of Tomb Raider. Just imagine Tomb Raider with a few screws loose and some martial arts training. The list of goofy characters just goes on and on. Some die quickly while the better ones you get to enjoy a bit longer.

The visuals on the DVD actually look beautiful and I can only imagine how much more the colors would pop off the screen if there was a Blu-Ray version (fingers crossed). The special effects actually look pretty good for a lower budget movie and impressed me. Though they can be a bit cheesy but never cheesy in a bad way if that makes any sense (does to me at least). The only special features included on the DVD are Outtakes and Deleted Scenes which were basic.

If you looking for a flick that doesn’t take itself too serious, full of over the top action, and a bit of comedy then pre-order Alien Opponent. It rocks.
